Say no to underbites! Our patient @rountree206 wasn’t loving his underbite and crossbite and wanted to make a change. He wanted the best treatment for his bite, so we moved forward with braces in combination with orthognathic surgery. Excellent expansion and underbite correction in only 2 months using Mini-screw expander (MARPE) and a reverse pull headgear. We are also employing lower aligners to assist with lower expansion and alignment. This type of treatment is best done in the 6-9 year old range, when the upper jaw is most responsive to orthopedic forces of an expander and reverse pull headgear. However with skeletal anchorage (MARPE), orthodontists have pushed the boundaries of what’s possible. This guy is 12! Our goal is to help this little guy avoid future surgery for under developed upper jaw and underbite and we are off to a great start! After expansion, we will place braces to align his teeth and settle his bite.
